2010 ZX 14 Akrapovic dual slip-ons?
10/17/11 6:38 PM

Hello all,
Just bought my first ZX14. Bike has 150 miles on it and my Akrapovic dual slip-ons are coming this week. Will this installation require a Power Commander or will just installation of the pipes do? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

No you do not need a power commander for slip-ons I don’t have one and I have 2 bros slip-ons but any modification you do on your bike that lets more air in/out will mess-up your fuel map making you run either too rich or too lean but you have a 2010 so you still have the catalytic converter in the mid-pipe so you will be fine.

Here we go again, and welcome. COOT, I'm going to take you for an italian tuneup you smoke the room up. There is no <MORE air. There is a faster event of the air speed but to fill a cup full of air, call it liquid? How can you put more water into a glass, show me more air into a cylinder chamber. It's that simple. And now, do you need something that calcs millions of little times, meaning, that sees the crank move 360° we can't slip on a slip and the computer already fired the mix? The FI has no clue what you did back there. There is no 02 sensor as if it needed one, it is also before the slip.

I told the apes in the trees about climbing up my rear end when the 02 is going to feel lean cold air in the reverse. Did it lean out in the next whatever millionth of what you think is going to lean out in that second? We are open loop with an baro pressure sensor. We head up in elevation, it corrects the fuel like an 02 in a pipe. Spain yourself, COTTSea!

How does the engine know it lost air if it closes on the same number each time? You mean you are going to bring in another number than the number that fills that void, or you are going to bring in more water to fill that filled glass... COOT... That is now two steps you stepped in... Bring it! Bring those two numb beers now.

You have a lot of splain inn to do.

All I’m trying to say Hub is that if you install a full exhaust on a 2008-2011 ZX14 you will lose a lot of backpressure = bad for valves but if you just throw on some slip-ons you still have the mid-cat clogging up that pipe so if you’re not racing all the time no harm no foul. And P.S. Hub I know he’s not racing it because if he was he would not be getting slip-ons!

LOL, COOT, you're a hoot! No valves go burn. See that fallacy? Now think like this. Here is a hot pipe with cold air going up to the valve. How is that heat going to be affected if the cool air comes in and warms up, can't harm a hot valve with hot air can you? Don't believe me, turn the key off after your ride. Go up to the exhaust header and hold your hand there. Will the cold air coming back in, hurt that valve?

COOT? Ever see top fuel exhausts? 11" is all she wrote says Bid Daddy Don Garlis. Sent me an email so I can prove from a source you be out of your circle of knowledge. YOu are not there yet. Keep yapping so I can keep the smoke out of the rooms you fallacy fire cracker!

Hello Guys,

Thanks for the colorful conversation regarding my question. I also contacted Akrapovic direct and this is how they responded to my inquiry:

Dear Sirs

Our system is develop for std map. You don't need to change the fuel map.

Thank you for your question,

Best regards,
Akrapovi? d.d.
